Private Security
In 2008 I was part of a deployment team who were attached to the 82nd Airborne Division and oversaw all Air-Ops being conducted in the northern Afghanistan provinces. Our shop was on the flightline at Bagram Air Field, which was the hub for any activity coming/leaving Afghanistan's OEF (Operation Enduring Freedom). The hanger next to us for 18 months was assigned to Blackwater Aviation, an infamous private security contractor with a strong presence in the middle-eastern countries. That year and a half of 12 hour, 7 day workweeks provided me with direct contacts into one of the largest, most controversial organizations in private security and the global war on terrorism, outside of our US Military.
The private security community is very small, consisting of much of the same people and connections. From that single deployment, I built a network of professionals across multiple agencies and departments spanning across the globe. Specifically I have worked contracts belonging to Blackwater Agency, Blackwater Aviation, Blackwater Ammunition, ACADEMI, and Constellis. A large part of these contracts fall under some level of security clearance and are not able to be discussed but include job listings, course and classes offered by certain companies, product line advertisements and insignia used by different departments within the organizations themselves. Many of the photographs/images used for these contracts were from my own collection of photos taken while enlisted in the US Army.
